Shop Owner Terms of Service

These Shop Owner Terms of Service ("Shop Owner Terms") govern your use of the My Coffee platform as a coffee shop owner, operator, or authorized representative ("Shop Owner," "you," or "your"). These Shop Owner Terms are in addition to, and incorporated into, the My Coffee Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which also apply to your use of the Service.
By submitting a claim for a shop listing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Shop Owner Terms.
1. Eligibility and Authorization
1.1 Authority to Claim
By initiating a claim, you represent and warrant that you are:
- The legal owner of the coffee shop, or
- An authorized representative with the right to manage the shop's public presence and marketing
Submitting a fraudulent claim or misrepresenting your authority is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination and legal action.
1.2 Business Verification
To complete a claim, you must submit a valid ownership verification document. Accepted documents include:
- A DBA (Doing Business As) filing or fictitious business name registration
- A business license issued in the name of the shop
- A state or local business registration document
- Other documentation demonstrating legal operation of the business, at My Coffee's discretion
Submission of a document does not constitute approval. My Coffee reviews all submissions and reserves the right to request additional documentation or deny a claim without explanation.
2. Approval and Claim Status
2.1 Review Period
After submitting your verification document, your claim will be reviewed by the My Coffee team. Review typically takes a few business days. You will be notified in the app when your claim is approved or if further information is required.
2.2 Denial and Revocation
My Coffee reserves the right to deny any ownership claim, or to revoke a previously approved claim, at its sole discretion. Reasons may include but are not limited to:
- Invalid, expired, or unverifiable documentation
- A competing claim from another party with stronger documentation
- Violation of these Terms or the general Terms of Service
- Evidence of misuse of the shop owner tools
2.3 One Claim Per Shop
Only one owner account may hold verified ownership of a shop at any time. If you believe your shop has been claimed in error by another party, contact us at support@ratemycoffee.app.
3. Shop Owner Responsibilities
3.1 Accurate Information
As a verified shop owner, you are responsible for the accuracy of all information you publish, including:
- Shop name, address, hours, and contact information
- Menu items, drink names, sizes, prices, and availability
- Shop descriptions and any other profile content
You agree to keep this information reasonably current and to remove or update content that is no longer accurate.
3.2 Announcements
Verified shop owners may post announcements visible to MyCoffee users. You agree that announcements will not:
- Contain false, misleading, or deceptive information
- Constitute spam or unsolicited mass messaging
- Promote products or services unrelated to your coffee shop
- Violate any applicable advertising or consumer protection laws
- Contain offensive, abusive, or discriminatory content
My Coffee reserves the right to remove any announcement that violates these Terms without notice.
3.3 Menu Management
You are solely responsible for keeping your menu accurate and up to date, including pricing, availability, and item descriptions. My Coffee is not liable for any customer confusion or dissatisfaction arising from inaccurate menu information.
4. Reviews and Ratings
4.1 No Manipulation
You may not, directly or indirectly:
- Solicit fake, incentivized, or misleading reviews
- Offer discounts, free items, or other benefits in exchange for positive reviews
- Attempt to have legitimate negative reviews removed through false reports
- Create or use additional accounts to review your own shop
Violation of this section may result in immediate removal of owner status and permanent account suspension.
4.2 Responding to Reviews
Where available, you may respond to reviews left on your shop. Responses must be professional and must not include personal attacks, threats, or defamatory statements toward reviewers.
5. Data and Analytics
5.1 Your Shop's Data
As a verified shop owner, you will have access to aggregated analytics about your shop's reviews, ratings, and drink performance. This data is provided for your internal business use.
5.2 Anonymized Aggregation
Individual review data is tied to MyCoffee user accounts and remains private to those users. You will only receive aggregated or anonymized data. You may not attempt to identify individual reviewers from the data provided to you.
5.3 Our Use of Shop Data
By claiming your shop, you grant My Coffee the right to display your shop's profile information, menu, and announcements to MyCoffee users. We may also use aggregated, anonymized data derived from your shop's activity to improve the platform and provide general market insights.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you submit (descriptions, menu items, announcements). By submitting it, you grant My Coffee a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content to users of the MyCoffee platform.
6.2 No Infringing Content
You may not upload or publish content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, including trademarked names, copyrighted images, or proprietary menu descriptions belonging to another business.
7. Pricing and Tiers
7.1 Free During Early Access
All shops are on the Free plan during the current early access period. Access to paid features (Analytics, Pro, Advisor) is not yet available but is coming soon.
7.2 Changes to Pricing
When paid tiers become available, My Coffee will provide at least 30 days' notice to active shop owners before any plan requires payment. You will never be automatically charged without prior notice and your explicit agreement.
8. Termination of Owner Status
8.1 Voluntary Removal
You may relinquish ownership of your shop listing at any time by contacting support@ratemycoffee.app. Your public shop profile will remain visible to MyCoffee users; only owner-specific tools and access will be removed.
8.2 Involuntary Termination
My Coffee may suspend or permanently revoke your owner status if you:
- Violate any provision of these Shop Owner Terms or the general Terms of Service
- Provide false or fraudulent ownership documentation
- Engage in review manipulation or other abusive behavior
- Cease to operate the coffee shop in question
8.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination of owner status, your access to owner tools, analytics, and the ability to post announcements will be immediately revoked. Content you previously published (menu items, announcements, descriptions) may be removed at My Coffee's discretion.
9. Disclaimers
THE SHOP OWNER TOOLS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. MY COFFEE DOES NOT GUARANTEE:
- That your shop will receive reviews, followers, or increased customer traffic
- The accuracy of shop data sourced from third-party services such as Google Places
- Uninterrupted availability of owner tools or analytics
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, My Coffee shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the shop owner tools, including but not limited to lost revenue, lost customers, or reliance on inaccurate analytics data.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Shop Owner Terms from time to time. We will notify active shop owners via the app or email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the owner tools after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
