Child Safety Standards
Last Updated: May 13, 2026
At My Coffee, the safety of every person on our platform is a responsibility we take seriously — and the protection of minors is at the top of that commitment. This page outlines our policies and practices regarding child safety, including how we prevent harmful content, how users can report concerns, and how we respond when violations occur.
These standards apply to all users of the My Coffee mobile application and website, including members, coffee shop owners, and any other individuals who interact with our platform.
1. Prohibition of CSAE Content
My Coffee has a strict, zero-tolerance policy toward any content that sexually exploits or abuses minors (CSAE). This prohibition is absolute — there are no exceptions, no gray areas, and no circumstances under which such content is permitted on our platform.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Any imagery, video, text, or other media that depicts the sexual exploitation or abuse of a minor
- Content that solicits, grooms, or attempts to facilitate contact with minors for sexual purposes
- Links, references, or indirect sharing of CSAE material from any external source
- Any communication that sexualizes individuals under the age of 18
We treat every report of potential CSAE content with the highest urgency. There is no appeal process for violations of this policy — accounts found to be in violation are permanently terminated and referred to the appropriate authorities.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to all user-generated content across every part of the My Coffee platform. Specifically, this includes:
- Profile photos and avatars — Images set by users as their public profile picture
- Display names and usernames — Any text a user chooses to represent themselves
- Coffee reviews and notes — Text content submitted when logging a drink or reviewing a shop
- Shop announcements — Posts and updates published by coffee shop owners to their followers
- Messages and social interactions — Any communication features available within the app
- Shop details and menus — Content submitted by shop owners as part of their business profile
- Any other user-submitted content — Including any future features or content types added to the platform
My Coffee's child safety standards apply globally — regardless of a user's location, the platform's rules are the same for everyone.
3. Detection & Prevention
We take a multi-layered approach to detecting and preventing harmful content before it can cause harm. Our current practices include:
- AI content screening: All user-submitted content is automatically scanned by AI to detect and flag potentially harmful material before it is surfaced to other users. Flagged content is escalated for human review.
- Human review of flagged content: Content flagged by our AI screening is reviewed by My Coffee staff and assessed against our community standards and this child safety policy.
- Account-level review: When a violation is identified, we review the full account history — not just the flagged content — to assess the scope of any potential harm.
We are committed to continuously improving our detection capabilities as our platform grows and technology evolves.
4. How to Report a Concern
If you encounter any content on My Coffee that you believe violates our child safety policy — or if you have any other concern related to the safety of a minor — please report it immediately by emailing us:
- Email: support@ratemycoffee.app — include a description of your concern and any relevant usernames or details. Please put "Child Safety" in the subject line so your message is routed to the right team.
We review all child safety reports within 48 hours. For reports involving an immediate or ongoing threat to a child's safety, please also contact your local law enforcement agency directly — we encourage you not to wait for our response if you believe a child is in immediate danger.
Reports submitted in good faith are always taken seriously. We do not penalize users for reporting concerns, even if a reviewed report does not result in a policy violation finding.
5. Enforcement
My Coffee enforces its child safety policy swiftly and without exception. When a violation is confirmed, we take the following steps:
- Immediate content removal: The offending content is removed from the platform as soon as the violation is confirmed, and in some cases before confirmation if the potential harm is clear and urgent.
- Permanent account termination: The account responsible for the content is permanently banned. We do not offer reinstatement for CSAE-related violations under any circumstances.
- Report to NCMEC: In accordance with U.S. federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A), we report confirmed or suspected CSAE content to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via their CyberTipline. NCMEC coordinates with law enforcement agencies to investigate and act on these reports.
- Referral to law enforcement: Where appropriate, we proactively share relevant account information and content with local, state, federal, or international law enforcement agencies to support criminal investigations.
We document all enforcement actions related to child safety and retain records to support any ongoing or future law enforcement investigations.
6. Law Enforcement Cooperation
My Coffee cooperates fully and promptly with law enforcement agencies in any investigation involving child safety. We treat every valid legal request — including subpoenas, court orders, and emergency requests — with the highest priority and respond as quickly as possible.
When we receive an emergency disclosure request from law enforcement indicating that a child is in imminent danger, we act without delay and share all information that may be relevant to protecting that child, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
We do not require formal legal process to share information with law enforcement when we have a good-faith belief that a child's safety is at immediate risk. In such cases, we act proactively to ensure the right authorities have the information they need.
